Twilight Lawsuit Update

So, I have to apologize because last week I reported on the lawsuit rumor that has been flying around the internet. About a week after that all got out Stephenie Meyer finally got around to posting a response on her web site and said that not only is it not affecting shooting, but none of it is true at all! She is not even being sued! So, sorry Stephenie. (You know she reads my blog)

My Visit to the Wolverine Premiere

So, just really brief...Cesar and I stopped by Tempe Marketplace last night in hopes of seeing one of the fab celebrities from Wolverine. We got there just at Hugh Jackman was getting on stage. He introduced the rest of the cast and the audience was really excited. There was a lot of people there, but not as many as I would have expected. I took some pictures, but I am pretty sure they are all horrible. I will look through them later and if any are ok I will post them.

Wolverine Movie Premiere at Tempe Marketplace!!!!!

Fans all over the United States were given the chance to vote as to the location of the X-men Origins: Wolverine movie premiere. Over three-thousand cities were in the running and it just so happens that (drum-role please) Arizona won!!!! Nerds across Az came together to bring X-men to Tempe Marketplace. The red carpet event will include the big names of Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, and my personal favorite, Ryan Reynolds! The premiere will be April 27th but fans around the rest of the States will have to wait til May 1st.

Twilight Lawsuit

Stephenie Meyer is being sued by a former college classmate who claims Stephenie stole the story of Twilight from a a story they wrote together in college. This is in no way affecting the release date or production of the movie so if you hear anything about filming being frozon ignore it.

On a brighter note: There is a new video of the cast on YouTube. nothing special but I thought you would like to see if anyways;)

Summit Announces Full New Moon Cast

They announced today on the Summit website the cast for New Moon. It listed the return of the Cullen family which should not be a surprise since on set photos have been leaked on almost every web site with pictures of all of them. A lot of major characters from the Volturi were announced such as who will play Marcus, Demetri, Felix, and Alec (Jane's brother). I was pleased to recognize a few of the names of the actors from a couple of the X-men movies. Sam's girlfriend Emily was announced and the actress is the one who was rumored to play Leah, so that was interesting. The names of the actors playing Leah and Sam however were missing from the list. I don't know if this is because they have not been cast yet or if they just neglected to mention them. The BIGGER rumor-starter though was the lack of Billy Burke who played Bella's father Charlie Swan in Twilight. I thought he did an amazing job and really hope he comes back for the second movie. I can't picture anyone else playing the role. Anyways, It is too much for me to type the names of all the new actors hired (yes, I'm being lazy) but if you want you can go read the whole article yourself at the Summit Entertainment official web page.

Über Cool Videos

I appreciate talent. My favorite is dance because I feel that with enough practice anyone can be an amazing dancer. Song on the other hand is a whole different thing. Either you can sing or you can't. No amount of practice will help you if you sound like William Hung. I unfortunately fall into that category, but I think that allows me to appreciate a good voice that much more. A few years ago my favorite person to watch on YouTube was Esmee Denters. I was very pleased to learn recently that she had signed on to Justin Timberlake's new recording label. Then a few months ago I saw a clip of two girls on Ellen who like to sing cover songs in their bathroom. Their name is Rin on the Rox. Watching their videos eventually lead me to another talented YouTube star named Philbert Simon. I posted some of my favorite videos of them thinking that some of you might enjoy them as much as I do. I also added the actual video of "I wanna Be Edward Cullen" Let me know what you think :)

Michael Sheen to Play Aro!

Personally, I am thrilled by this choice to play Aro. I remember watching the Underworld movies and thinking this guy was so bad-ass as a werewolf. He will be a great Aro! In case you are not familiar with the Underworld series he was more recently in the Frost/Nixon movie. I will warn you: If you type his name into google images you will find some pretty dorky pics of him, but don't worry. He is a very creditable actor!

I wanna be Edward Cullen

Check out this parody of Kanye West's song Heartless. Now called I wanna be Edward Cullen. I heard this on the radio last week on my way to work and thought it was hilarious. You really need to pay attention to the lyrics. :)

Twilight Drama

What fun would internet blogging be without the drama? None of course! That is why Twilighters made sure to give us an extra dose or two in the last week. First of all there was major rumors flying around that Rob Pat had been butting heads with New Moon director Chris Weitz about not only details in the script and plot of the movie, but also because he was jealous of favoritism the director was showing for new-comer Dakota Fanning. Then, hours later another blog/news site claimed that Robert was so fed up with everything that he walked off the set! It was also rumored that they were searching for a new actor to replace him! As you can guess fans were furious and leaving comments on blogs like pigeons leave droppings on park benches. They ranged from the stunned "You have got to be kidding me?" and "this BETTER be a joke" to as complex as stating "dicks." Of course none of these fans took into account that it was April Fool's Day and it was ALL just a way to get fans crazed and foaming at the mouth.

Since writing the above paragraph hours ago I have come across an even newer report saying that cast and crew are "gagging" at Robert's BO. He testily denied that he doesn't shower and that he does so on a regular basis. Personally, he doesn't look like a very clean dude to me. They also go on to report that he is very jealous of the five new actors hired to play part of the werewolves clan. I really hope this is not true because he really should not be threatened. After all, he IS playing Edward Cullen.

Also, in reference to an earlier blog, apparently many fans in the UK were just as surprised as I was by the choice to hire Jamie Campbell-Bower to play Caius! They say he is too young and pretty! SEE! It wasn't just me!

A little drama-starting food for thought: a commentator named Darum from comingsoon.net mused "I still don't understand how this is going to be released in November when [they're] still casting people. They're definitely going to end up pushing back the date." I believe this will cause a world wide meltdown. Hormonal teens and menopausal women across Earth will simultaneously have panic attacks and take out their fury on their loved ones. Just a thought.

Finally, my mom is an avid scrapbooker and came across an article in Creating Keepsakes magazine which lists the Twilight font known as Zephyr as the Font of the Month. People have been in a frenzy to acquire this font. While I have seen it for sale on websites as high as $29.99 my mom DID find a web site that had it for FREE! That's right, I said FREE! Try this place http://www.biteoftwilight.com/2006/12/fonts.html
Be aware that some places have changed the name of the font to Twilight to help even more with the ever growing popularity.

The Host on Sale at Borders

Stephenie Meyer's first adult novel The Host is on sale for 50% off this weekend at Border's. It is regularly $25.99 which is the most money I have ever seen it for but at 50% off it is not a bad deal and probably the cheapest I have ever seen it. Even Target and Walmart charge around seventeen for it. I read this book when it first came out and loved it. It made me happy because it proved that Meyer can write about more than vampires (she can do aliens too!). The following is the review at amazon.com

Amazon.com Review
Amazon Best of the Month, May 2008: Stephenie Meyer, creator of the phenomenal teen-vamp Twilight series, takes paranormal romance into alien territory in her first adult novel. Those wary of sci-fi or teen angst will be pleasantly surprised by this mature and imaginative thriller, propelled by equal parts action and emotion. A species of altruistic parasites has peacefully assumed control of the minds and bodies of most humans, but feisty Melanie Stryder won't surrender her mind to the alien soul called Wanderer. Overwhelmed by Melanie's memories of fellow resistor Jared, Wanderer yields to her body's longing and sets off into the desert to find him. Likely the first love triangle involving just two bodies, it's unabashedly romantic, and the characters (human and alien) genuinely endearing. Readers intrigued by this familiar-yet-alien world will gleefully note that the story's end leaves the door open for a sequel--or another series. --Mari Malcolm

You can read more reviews at amazon.com. I also wanted to mention that this is not a book just about the love between a man and a woman but the love between friends and siblings. While I admit there was a hard part to get through at the beginning while the character is wandering through the Arizona desert I was SO glad I stuck with it because it is an AMAZING book. I cried my heart out and the end.

People who are not fans of science fiction should not be put off by the extra terrestrial theme. You forget you are reading a book of fiction and become totally engaged with the characters.

The following is an interview with Meyer discussing The Host.
